Durham County commissioners appoint dozens to advisory boards; several seats tie and will be re-voted

Appointments included Scott Carter and Nathan Lee to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (two vacancies: one at-large and one Duke University student or staff position); Quandora Colvin, William Vadovuk and Justin Hall to the Board of Adjustment (three vacancies); and eight appointments to the Durham County Women's Commission: Latasha Best Gaddy, Patrice High, Makeisha Markham, Alonza Pamplin, Sikora Bullock, Catherine Janes, Maria Moreno and Cynthia Scarborough.
Other appointments announced included Constanza Gomez Jones to the Durham County Hospital Corporation Board of Trustees (one confirmed seat); nominees for a second Hospital Corporation seat resulted in a tie, which the board said will require re-voting at a future meeting. The Durham Sports Commission also produced a tied result for one seat and will be redone, Attorney Williamson said.
Additional appointments: Ebony Watts to the Citizens Advisory Committee; B. Angelo Burch Sr. to the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee; Lillian Lois Deloach to the Durham Technical Community College Board of Trustees; Russell Pierce to the Homeless Services Advisory Committee; Quandora Colvin to the Jury Commission; and multiple appointments to the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council including Kevin MacGyver, Labria Step Stevens, John Morris, Jonathan Wilson, Ramya Krishna, Renee Hill (faith community seat), and Warren Langley (United Way or similar nonprofit seat).
Attorney Williamson congratulated appointees and thanked all applicants. The board noted that several boards and commissions still have vacancies and encouraged residents to apply.
For the two tied contests, the board said the seats will be reconsidered at the next meeting; no additional details on tie-breaking procedures or timelines were provided during the session.
