Supervisors voted to assign a tax-sale certificate for a small parcel in the city of Ledyard after a prospective buyer explained the parcel had an unknown owner and the buyer intends to combine it with an adjoining property.
Scott Klinsky told the board he was buying adjacent property and asked to be assigned the county's tax-sale certificate for the tiny parcel on Railroad Drive so the tax status could be cleared and combined with his purchase. Staff said the parcel has limited assessed value (tax and drainage amounts were described in the meeting) and the buyer offered to pay the county taxes and drainage assessments before assignment.
The board moved to assign the tax-sale certificate and to allow staff to update back taxes once the deed transfer was recorded; the motion passed by voice vote. Supervisors asked staff to work with the buyer on the payment process and closing paperwork.
