Library staff association distributes scholarships to library-school students

During the public-comment portion of the June 23 Indianapolis Public Library Board meeting, Melinda Mullica, identified herself as the manager of the Wayne Branch and a representative of the Staff Association’s program and scholarship committee. Mullica and Lindsay Haddix, West Perry branch manager, presented scholarships to several library-school students and staff members.
Mullica named recipients present and absent: Katrina Barnett (in attendance), Valerie Cobb (not present; employed at Wayne), Emily (Michigan Road PSA), Kayla King (PSA at East 30th Street), Corey Minor (program development administrative assistant; absent this evening), Kelsey Nielsen (East Region floater) and Amber Powell (Southport PSA). Mullica said the scholarships support library science students and staff pursuing library education and professional development.
The presenters noted the next scholarship application deadline is Dec. 1, 2025, and said the Staff Association looks forward to awarding additional funds at a future meeting.
The board offered thanks for the work of the Staff Association and its scholarship committee.
