Bellbrook, school district continue talks on old Sugar Creek school property; city'school group to meet with Lions Club

City Manager Rob told council that talks continue about the future of the former Sugar Creek school property and that a meeting is scheduled with the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek City Schools, Greene County entities and the Lions Club to finalize next steps.
Rob said the school district passed a resolution to pursue a municipal-purpose transfer and the council previously passed a resolution allowing the city to work cooperatively with the district to use municipal processes at no expense to the city. "We are meeting again on this Thursday," Rob said. "The school district... still is in the hands of the school district to make the final decision as to what they are going to do with the property."
Rob and council members clarified that the city is not developing or purchasing the property on its own; the city's role is a cooperative entity to facilitate a transfer or redevelopment to an end user. The meeting will include the school district, the Greene County Economic Development/Finance entity and the Lions Club, which presented a concept plan in prior public meetings.
No final exchange, purchase price or developer was announced; the city manager said the process remains with the school district and that the city is "at a pause" until the district finalizes desired contingencies and terms.
