The Blount County Beer Board on June 19, 2025 voted unanimously to approve an off‑premises beer permit for Key Inconvenience LLC, authorizing alcohol sales at 3553 East Lamar Alexander Parkway in Maryville. The motion to approve the permit passed 8-0 after a public hearing with no public comments.
County Attorney Scott said of the application: "the application appears to meet all the requirements of the Blount County Beer Board Ordinance as well as state law." Applicant representative Piyush Patel was sworn and confirmed he provided the information in the application, and that the convenience store and fuel station at the address is owned by East Tennessee LLC.
The application materials submitted to the board showed the nearest church, Rio Revolution Church, at 2,728 feet; the nearest school, Heritage Middle School, at about 1,100 feet; and the nearest public gathering place, Amerine Park, at about 2,640 feet. The survey also indicated one residence within 300 feet of the location. The applicant and county attorney noted there had previously been a beer permit at the same site.
Before the permit hearing, the board approved a revised agenda after the applicant for Bunny's Smokehouse and Creamery withdrew its request. The board also approved minutes from its May 15, 2025 meeting. Both procedural motions passed by voice vote with the clerk recording eight affirmative votes.
With no additional permits on the docket, the board did not set a date for its next full meeting and adjourned. The clerk informed the successful applicant that the license would be available for pickup the following morning.
