The Tulsa City Council on Wednesday approved a series of routine and technical items with limited discussion.
Items approved on consent or with brief debate included: - Receipt and filing of minutes for the regular meetings held May 21 (4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.) — items 1a and 1b were approved on a roll call. - Appointments: Sofia Nagdhanoshe was appointed to the Asian Affairs Commission (replacing Tina Tran); Joyce Arlene Roberts was appointed to the Human Rights Commission (items 2a and 2b). A public speaker addressed the appointments during the hearing. - Authorities, boards and commissions (item 5 a–d): the council approved a final plat for property at the southeast corner of E 46 N and N Peoria Ave (5a) and three rezoning applications and plats as listed in the backup; there were no public speakers on item 5 and the items were approved by roll call. - Ordinances: items that received routine approval included the reconsideration and passage of an ordinance amending Tulsa Revised Ordinances Title 23 (Municipal Criminal Court) (7b) and a change to Title 37 (Tulsa Revised Traffic Code) related to special-event cost recovery (7c). Several other zoning and infrastructure ordinances on first reading were forwarded to the next council meeting. - Optional development plan amendment (5d): after a motion to reconsider, the council approved modifications to an optional development plan for a sign (Z7814) limiting freestanding signs to monument-style signs with a maximum height of 8 feet and a maximum dynamic display area of 32 square feet. - Other business: council approved a resolution to solicit donations and complementary rapid-rehousing programming that referenced American Rescue Plan funds (8b) and approved related community events solicitations (8c).
Votes and procedure notes: where roll-call votes were recorded the meeting minutes reflect the individual votes; several items were forwarded without public comment. The high-profile human-rights ordinance (7m) drew extended public testimony and debate and was tabled to Sept. 10 for further work (see separate story).
