Student Safety committee schedules virtual public input for July 8, requests subcommittee data assessments

The Student Safety and Well‑being Advisory Committee approved its June 2025 agenda, directed subcommittees to prepare draft sections of a data assessment report and voted to hold a quarterly public input session virtually on Tuesday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Emily Shrews, the committee’s staff liaison, told members the data assessment report template in meeting packets includes three sections: an introduction, an overview of data, practices and procedures relevant to each subcommittee, and identification of challenges and areas for improvement. “We are asking as we gear towards our final report preparation within the next few months, to have our subcommittees kind of work together, to go over…what they’ve researched,” Shrews said.

Shrews said the goal is for subcommittees to draft their sections in time for a July meeting that will be used as a round‑table work session rather than a formal presentation. Committee members agreed to move the quarterly public input session to a virtual evening meeting to improve attendance; the committee voted to host the session on Tuesday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams and the county communications network. A committee member moved the scheduling motion and another seconded; the chair called for the ayes and said, “The ayes have it. Motion carries.”

The committee also approved the agenda at the start of the meeting by voice vote. With no public comments offered during the meeting’s public‑comment period, members later moved and approved adjournment.

Shrews told members to contact staff if they need help completing the template or if they have questions about subcommittee membership. The committee indicated the July work session will be a primary opportunity to consolidate subcommittee inputs for the final committee report.
