District outlines staffing needs, teacher bonus process and registration timeline

District staff said two certified teaching spots (a fifth-grade math/science teacher and a middle-school librarian) remained open; the district is also seeking an elementary bookkeeper, a nurse and three educational assistants. Dr. Sandoval said support personnel rehire letters were sent about one to two weeks earlier and employees have a short window to accept rehire offers.
Regarding state funding, Dr. Sandoval discussed the Education Freedom Act (voucher bill) one-time teacher bonus. "Each teacher that's taught for a hundred and 20 days or more in a year, and they've been a direct service to students... all of our teachers will receive a $2,000 one-time bonus," he said, adding the state is expected to pay related fixed charges and that payment could arrive in July but cautioned the timeline might change.
Staff also noted that staff report-back is scheduled for July 28 and that the district opened online new-student registration; returning-student online registration will open after July 4 (district official provided July 7 as the start for returning student registration). District leaders encouraged the board and the public to attend the county commission hearing on the FY26 general-purpose school budget on Monday.
