Tiburon council directs landscape design work for three neighborhood mini‑parks

The Tiburon Town Council on June 18 authorized staff to proceed with landscape‑design work for three neighborhood mini‑parks — Cypress Hollow, Bel Air and Belvoiron — and to obtain cost and schedule estimates using the town’s parks master plan and recent community input.

Parks and Open Space commissioners summarized a months‑long outreach process that included an April survey (315 responses reported), multiple site visits and a May public forum focused on playground equipment. Commissioners and staff told the council the three parks vary in scale and needs: Cypress Hollow needs playground equipment replacement, resodding and improved signage; Bel Air requires light maintenance, better gravel‑path surfacing and a few amenity updates; Belvoiron is the largest of the three (approximately 2.1 acres), has overgrowth and non‑native vegetation concerns, and neighbors asked for entrance improvements and tree work.

Council voted unanimously to direct staff to add those parks to the landscape design work already authorized for the settling ponds project and to return with estimated costs and schedules. Commissioners said the intent is modest, locally focused improvements — a ‘‘light touch’’ — rather than major new facilities. Several parents and park users spoke in support of moving forward; a written submission from the local parents group was noted as on file.
