Appleton Public Library says major building finishes near completion; hearing loop to be commissioned

The Appleton Public Library Board of Trustees heard an update June 17 that most work on the library’s new building is complete, with a handful of installations and finishing touches remaining.
The board’s President, Board of Trustees, said donors’ signs that required more complex installation were hung last week and that most signage work is finished. A staff member reported the building’s hearing loop will be commissioned this week in the large meeting room; the hearing loop still needs installation in the current meeting room and at service desks. The update also noted the children’s guarding gate has been installed but “it's not got all the functionality to it,” and exterior railing and some landscaping work remain.
The staff member detailed additional finishing items: refinishing the learning stairs with a rubberized surface rather than exposed concrete, and a few small tweaks to landscaping that have been occurring over the past weeks. The presentation said, pending those final tasks, the construction- and fit-out-phase work is “winding down.”
Library staff proposed removing the regular building update from future agendas until more significant milestones arise; they said they would return with a demonstration and short trustee training once the hearing-loop installations are complete to explain how the system works.
No formal action was required. The board did not set new deadlines for the remaining items during the meeting.
The board received the update as information and moved on to other agenda items.
