Assembly reassigns several Senate bills to new committees by unanimous consent
Summary
By unanimous consent on June 2 the Assembly re‑referred multiple Senate bills — including SB 86, SB 512, SB 572, SB 601, SB 614, SB 627, SB 733 and SB 847 — to different committee destinations, altering their committee paths.
Pursuant to Assembly Rule 96, the California State Assembly on June 2 re‑referred a set of Senate bills to different committees by unanimous consent.
Majority Leader Aguiar Curry requested unanimous consent to re‑refer the bills; the Speaker put the request and members agreed "without objection." The bills listed and the committee movements recorded in the clerk’s readout were:
- SB 86 (McNearney): from the Revenue and Taxation Committee to the Transportation Committee and then back to the Revenue and Taxation Committee. - SB 512 (Perez): from the Emergency Management Committee to the Elections Committee. - SB 572 (Gonzales): from the Transportation Committee to the Judiciary Committee and then back to the Transportation Committee. - SB 601 (Allen): from the Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee to the Judiciary Committee and then back to the Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee. - SB 614 (Stern): from the Natural Resources Committee to the Utilities and Energy Committee and then back to the Natural Resources Committee. - SB 627 (Wiener): from the Local Government Committee to the Public Safety Committee. - SB 733 (Wahab): from the Housing Committee to the Development Committee and then to the Public Safety Committee (as read into the record). - SB 847 (Reyes): from the Insurance Committee to the Judiciary Committee and then back to the Insurance Committee.
The re‑referrals are procedural and change each bill’s committee pathway; the Assembly took no floor action on the substantive content of the bills during this session.
