City recognizes Gathering of Men of New Rochelle for mentorship, community work

Deacon David Peters, who also serves on the City Council, read parts of the proclamation. A Gathering of Men representative thanked the city and described recent outreach: members visited a Remington neighborhood school to present a historical account of Juneteenth to children and read General Order No. 3 as part of that lesson.
Presenters and honorees emphasized collaboration between local organizations, including Bethesda Baptist Church and Grandpa United, and noted the work is sustained by community partnerships. The group said membership has declined from earlier years but that it remains active in mentorship and community service.
