Staff described the expected schedule: a preview exhibit opening immediately, a first phase of the permanent exhibit targeted for completion by the end of next year and subsequent phase work thereafter.
Staff and project representatives said the Hall of Fame committee selected Overland Park over proposals from other cities, citing museum readiness and proximity to regional events. Staff also said the amendments include provisions to track museum visitation and the economic reporting required by new state legislation; the city and developer will collaborate to comply with those reporting obligations.
Committee action The committee voted unanimously to recommend that the council approve the fourth amendment to the Prairie Fire development agreement and the second amendment to the Museum Operating Agreement and to direct staff to prepare the authorizing resolutions in substantially the forms presented.
