The Richmond Town Council voted to ask staff to advertise and accept applications for members of an administrative/town-administrator search committee.
Councilors discussed timing and outreach; several members suggested delaying the council appointment of a member to the committee until the July meeting so councilors absent from the June 17 meeting could participate. The council asked staff to set an application deadline that will allow review before the July meeting and to use the town’s existing application form (with an “other” option to specify interest in the search committee). Councilors discussed a flexible goal of roughly three to five search-committee members but left the final committee size to be decided when applications are reviewed. The motion to advertise the search-committee openings and accept applications passed by roll call vote.
Staff was instructed to include an application deadline and to publicize the opportunity on the town website and social channels.
