The Chautauqua County Public Safety Committee on Thursday approved a resolution confirming Matthew Bentley to the county Traffic Safety Board.
James Sullivan, from the County Executive's office, introduced the appointment. "So, we have a Board appointment here for the Traffic Safety Board. We are going to be appointing Matthew Bentley, who is the new Lakewood police chief, who will be replacing the former police chief on the board," Sullivan said.
Committee members asked no substantive questions about the appointment. The committee conducted a voice vote; the chair called for those in favor and, when members responded "Aye," the chair said the motion carried.
The committee did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript and provided no further details about Bentley's background or the term length for the appointment in the meeting record.
The approval moves the nomination forward per the committee's normal procedures; the transcript shows no objections or recorded conditions attached to the confirmation.
