Commission approves $15,000 from parks fund for Beaver Bay (Zap Park) boat ramp replacement

A representative for the Zap Park Board told commissioners that the Game and Fish Department inspected the ramp and recommended partial replacement of roughly 5,500 square feet of ramp. The board provided an estimate of $58,648 for the work; Game and Fish offered to remove existing materials and to cover 75 percent of the project cost, leaving the county with roughly a 25 percent share (about $15,000).
Commissioners discussed the parks fund balance before voting. County staff said the parks fund held approximately $160,090.96 (cash on hand) in the account available for parks projects. On a motion to approve up to $15,000 from that parks account for the Zap Park ramp replacement, commissioners voted aye: Commissioner Casey, Commissioner Jamie, Commissioner Mark, Commissioner Rick and Commissioner Jean; the motion passed.
Staff will coordinate with the Zap Park Board and Game and Fish on next steps and contracting for the work.
