The San Gabriel City Council on Tuesday conducted a public hearing and approved an updated agreement with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to provide health officer services to the city and adopted Ordinance No. 7-20.
Assistant to the city manager Iliana Flores told the council the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health had requested all 85 contracted cities update their agreements. Flores said the updated contract modernizes language, aligns statutory references, continues comprehensive public health services at no cost to the city and would remain in effect through June 30, 2029 with automatic successive five-year renewals unless terminated.
A public hearing notice was published June 5, 2025; the city clerk reported no public comments during the hearing. After brief procedural questions, a council member moved to approve the agreement, authorize the city manager to execute it, waive further reading and adopt Ordinance No. 7-20. The motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
The staff report notes the county public health code is used as the city’s health code and that the revised agreement is intended to ensure alignment with contemporary public-health standards and statutory references. No changes to scope of services or a deduction of services were identified in the staff presentation.
