Planning Commission elects Lizette Ruiz as chair, Daisy Prieto as vice chair

Commissioner Margarita Valenzuela nominated Commissioner Lizette Ruiz for chair; Ruiz accepted the nomination. A roll‑call vote recorded yes votes from Commissioners Daisy Prieto, Luis, Margarita Valenzuela, Castaneda and Chairperson (outgoing) Jimmy Osaeta; the motion passed and Ruiz assumed the chair role.
For vice chair, Commissioners nominated Daisy Prieto; the motion carried on a unanimous roll‑call vote and Prieto was elected vice chair. In remarks after the vote, Ruiz thanked her colleagues for their trust and said she would “put [her] all in” to serve as chair. Prieto said she appreciated the support and acknowledged she had “big shoes to follow.”
The commission noted the annual reorganization routinely occurs at the end of the fiscal year in June; there are no term limits for the positions and the commission may re‑elect officers annually.
