Board members approved the minutes from the May 21, 2025 meeting and accepted the warden’s and personnel reports by voice vote. One board member announced an abstention on the minutes approval because he was not present for that meeting.
The maintenance report dated June 12, 2025 listed recent repairs and preventive work: a problem with the right‑side washing machine in the main laundry (May 3), a water‑heater leak (May 3), routine filter changes completed June 2, service to rooftop unit No. 3 and a refrigeration issue with a walk‑in cooler (June 5 and June 25 as recorded), submission of dwelling reports and a CCR to DEP (dates recorded June 5 and June 11), and a six‑month kitchen exhaust cleaning scheduled for June 11.
The work‑release update showed seven inmates in the program for the month and five currently on the program, with net income of $8,493.04. The report gave a line‑item breakdown as recorded: “from aboard” $2,850; court costs $345; inmate payments $5,208.04; and escrow $90. During discussion, Commissioner Lukasiewicz said the program’s daily fees were increased about three years ago from $20 to $25 per day.
In the warden’s monthly report for May, the board was given admissions and release figures for the period. The report listed six male admissions and 12 female admissions and reported 74 total releases (the report recorded two release subcounts of 56 and 18). The facility’s daily population during the period was reported as 152; the population on May 31 was reported as 130 men and 19 women, for a total of 149. The report also listed 11 total transports (including three hospital transports and one cardiology transport) and six days of hospital duty.
Under new business board members noted that this is likely the warden’s last prison board meeting. Several members thanked the warden for his leadership. The board noted for the record that the Carbon County Board of Commissioners would act on the retirement at their meeting the next day; no formal board vote on the retirement took place at the prison board meeting.
The board heard no requests for executive session at the meeting and adjourned after routine business and the personnel report approval. The board noted Matthew Reath is scheduled to appear at the next prison board meeting.
