The Angola City Historic Preservation Commission on June 18 approved the minutes from its previous meeting but declined to take up new business concerning a building at 108 South Wayne Street because a member must recuse and fewer than four commissioners would be eligible to vote.
Commissioners held roll call at the start of the meeting and determined they could approve only ministerial items. A commissioner noted the new-business item concerns a property connected to George Weiss and that the involved member would have to recuse, which reduced the number of members eligible to vote below the four required for substantive decisions. The commission therefore did not take up the 108 South Wayne Street item and discussed scheduling a special meeting; the chair mentioned the special meeting might be held Monday at 3:30, subject to confirming a quorum.
A motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting passed by voice vote. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
The roll call at the start of the meeting named Clay Burkett, Claudia Camargo, George Ruiz, Chris Sutton, Ode Wilson, Lou Anne Holman and Allison Baglow as present. The commission did not consider the merits of the 108 South Wayne Street proposal at this meeting because of the recusal and resulting lack of a four-member voting panel.
