Rahway donates older fire engine to county fire academy, officials say

The Union County Department of Public Safety told commissioners that the city of Rahway is donating an older fire engine to the county fire academy so trainees can practice on a working apparatus.
During department reports, the public safety director said the fire academy "is relying upon each of the member agencies to assist in the in the training, program. One of the most valuable or invaluable pieces of items that we can have are good up up kept, working fire engines. Rahway recently placed a new 1 into service and is donating our old their older 1 so that our firefighter trainees can get adequate training."
The exchange was part of the department's two items on the agenda; the board did not take a separate vote on this donation at the agenda-setting session. The director characterized the contribution as helping sustain training capacity for the county's firefighter trainees and thanked member agencies that support the academy.
No donation agreement, transfer date, or condition report for the engine was presented during the agenda-setting meeting.
