Parks and Recreation staff briefed the committee on the guaranteed maximum price and construction contract for the new Center for Active Adults, the second parks-and-recreation project funded by the 2019 general obligation bonds.
Staff said design work began in 2023 and the city used a construction-manager-at-risk process to select the construction manager. The GMP includes a base construction price plus an escalation contingency of 1.5 percent. Staff said the construction manager’s fee is approximately 3 percent and that HUB participation on subcontracting was near 27 percent following bid openings on May 29. If the city breaks ground in August or September, construction was projected to last about 16 months with completion anticipated in late 2026.
Committee members voted to approve the GMP. No council member registered opposition on the floor.
