Staff and the project engineer recommended approval.
Council members were told that staff had coordinated with nearby stakeholders — including Green Meadows West Homeowners Association and local Little League and softball organizations — about construction impacts at Lou Clarkson Park and that access would be maintained, though delays could occur. Staff said the contractor is already working in the area on a sidewalk project.
A council member asked about the construction schedule; staff said a preconstruction meeting was expected this week or early next week, and the work must be completed before school starts in August, creating a “compact schedule.” Council discussion included confidence in the low bidder’s performance based on their work in the neighborhood.
The council approved three items tied to the project: Resolution No. 25-148 (adopting plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost), Resolution No. 25-149 (making award of construction contract), and Resolution No. 25-151 (approving construction contract and bond). All three motions were approved by roll-call vote at the meeting.
The city will proceed to schedule preconstruction activities and work with the contractor to meet the stated timeline.
