The Technology and Operations Committee of the Illinois Toll Highway Authority voted to place on the full board agenda a recommended award to AIX, Incorporated for Liferay software maintenance and support.
Chief Information Officer Mike Shay told the committee the Liferay platform underpins the Tollway’s self‑service website and iPass app and that the procurement will support customer account authorization, online account features and future AI enhancements. "The award is recommended to AIX, Incorporated for contract 240175 in the amount not to exceed $2,448,681.82 for Liferay software maintenance and support for the initial 3 year term and a 2 year optional renewal system," Shay said. He described the procurement as "a pretty crucial procurement."
Shay said three competitive bids were evaluated and that AIX is not an incumbent. The committee heard an estimated two‑year renewal amount of $996,786.74; a committee member characterized that figure as "about half a million dollars a year." A motion to approve placement of Information Technology item number 1 on the full board agenda was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The item will appear on the June board agenda with the committee's recommendation.
