3 Island Safe Neighborhood District sets proposed millage, schedules budget hearings; minutes approved

The Board of Directors of the 3 Island Safe Neighborhood District on Wednesday, June 18, approved a resolution to set a proposed millage rate for fiscal year 2025–26, scheduled two public hearings on the budget and millage, and voted to approve the meeting minutes.

The resolution (item 7a on the agenda) passed on a 5-0 roll call. The board announced two public budget hearings: Sept. 5, 2025, at 5:05 p.m. for the first budget hearing, and Sept. 29, 2025, at 5:05 p.m. for the second. Board members recorded as voting yes were Director Adams; Vice Chair Lazaro; Chair Cooper; Director DeMatha; and Director Butler.

During the meeting a proposed millage figure was read on the record; the transcript of that reading was unclear. The board’s remarks included the statement that the amount was based on the June 1 preliminary taxable value, but the meeting record did not provide a clearly readable, verified numeric millage in the transcript. The resolution therefore was recorded and scheduled for the public hearings above, where final adoption and any numeric adjustments will be considered.

Earlier in the meeting the board voted 5-0 to approve the minutes, also by roll call. The meeting adjourned after the votes and the board immediately moved to call a special meeting of the Golden Isles.

The actions taken establish the proposed levy and schedule the statutorily required public hearings; the board did not take a final adoption of a millage rate at this meeting.
