The Coeur d'Alene Garden District was celebrated as a new listing on the National Register of Historic Places at a public dedication at GeoPiphany Park, organizers said, after the U.S. Department of the Interior notified the city on April 15 that the neighborhood had been listed.
The listing recognizes the Garden District’s concentration of historic homes, mature trees and neighborhood character. The nomination began in 2018 when neighborhood residents approached the Kootenai County Historic Preservation Commission; a grant-funded survey of roughly 520 homes and buildings was completed in 2021 and the nomination work was finished in late 2024, organizers said.
