Summary
The board unanimously approved a motorized cart district for Lovingood Landing after residents produced a petition showing 51 of 53 homeowners in favor and public commenters described long-standing use of golf carts and neighborhood connectivity.
The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved June 17 a request from Lovingood Landing Homeowners Association to establish the subdivision as an authorized motorized cart district.
Staff reported that the subdivision consists of three streets with 25 mph speed limits, one entrance and a cart trail to lake access; the HOA petition documented support from 51 out of 53 homeowners (96%). Ten residents signed up to speak in favor of the district at the public hearing and described long-standing golf-cart use for intra-neighborhood travel and access to the lake and dock.
Commissioner Carter made the motion to approve the district; Commissioner Wetherbee seconded. After public comment, the board voted ‘‘aye’’ and approved the motorized cart ordinance for Lovingood Landing unanimously.
Ending: County staff will prepare the ordinance paperwork and any signage or registration requirements needed to formalize the district under county code.
