Superintendent Frank Narducci told the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board on June 11 that staff recommends adopting a resolution to order an election to continue the district's existing 15% maintenance and operations (M&O) budget override.
"We're recommending, for you to adopt a resolution ordering all matters necessary for a 15% maintenance and operations budget override election to be held on 11/04/2025," Narducci said at the meeting. He said the district is currently operating under the 15% M&O override and described the proposed continuation as a replacement of the existing override rather than an additional levy.
Narducci gave an estimated annual amount associated with the continuation: "It would be approximately $45,745,513," and said the figure remains roughly stable because declines in student counts and increases in state base support offset each other.
He also summarized the measure's intended uses: maintaining safety personnel and initiatives at schools, preserving competitive class sizes, supporting teacher pay, and maintaining specialized programs, instructional materials and enhanced technology. Narducci explained how the timeframe for overrides functions under state rules: the continuation would begin in February for a fiscal year start and is described as a seven-year authorization that the district has historically seeks to renew on a shorter cycle.
