Council to adopt protocol for debriefing conferences; CML debrief scheduled for July 7

City Manager Geier presented a draft Protocol No. 13 on Monday that would create a structured process for council members to report key insights from conferences and trainings to the full council.
Geier said the draft lays out a purpose and four procedural points so members who attend conferences can share takeaways in a transparent, consistent format and, if desired, request follow-up direction to staff under existing council protocols. "We're proposing a protocol number 13 based on council direction last fall to bring forward a formal structured process for city council members to share key insights," Geier said.
Council members asked for a prompt follow-up after events so recollections remain fresh. Geier said he had scheduled a debrief of the Colorado Municipal League (CML) conference for July 7 and told council he would bring the protocol back for formal adoption on Monday, June 23 if council provided consensus.
Council provided that consensus at the meeting; Geier will return June 23 with the formal protocol for adoption and a CML debrief is set for July 7.
