The Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education approved a package of bond-funded procurement and project items on June 16, voting unanimously (6'00) on each item.
Furniture: The board approved a motion authorizing purchase of furniture for the current phase of FF&E procurement not to exceed $368,007.19, to be paid from bond funds. District staff told the board the furniture procurement included stakeholder input gathered over several years (pilots and focus groups with students, staff and families) and that the selections reflected needs such as musical-instrument storage.
AV broadcast systems: The board approved a proposal with Keycode Media Inc. for $214,314.96 to procure, install and commission audio/visual broadcast systems for the district radio station and related facilities. The motion specified payment from bond funds.
Physical move management services: The board approved awarding physical moving services and adding $50,000 to project contingency, split among three vendors (Palmer Moving Services, Premier Locations and Corrigan Moving Systems) as presented.
Musical equipment: The board approved the purchase of musical instruments and equipment not to exceed $200,000. The curriculum/learning-services team told trustees that staff and program leaders had been consulted and that quoted vendor proposals had been included in the packet.
All four motions passed 6'00. Presenters included district operations staff (identified in the record as Mr. Shulkin) and Todd Bidlacker, Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services, who described the instrument needs and thanked staff who compiled quotes and inventories.
Speakers cited include David Shulkin (district staff presenting on facilities/implementation) and Todd Bidlacker (Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services).
