The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee voted unanimously March 7 to transfer one full-time position and $140,900 to the broadband office program within the Idaho Department of Commerce. Representative Handy moved the net-zero transfer; Senator Bierke seconded. The committee recorded a combined vote of 20 ayes and 0 nays; the motion carried and will carry a due-pass recommendation. Committee staff told members the transfer realigns an existing FTE and associated dollars to the broadband office and reduces the same from another commerce program, producing no net fiscal impact. Brooke Dupree, budget and policy analyst, presented the Commerce budget and noted the broadband office administers broadband grants under direction of the Broadband Advisory Board.
