Committee approves rewrite of Certified Shorthand Reporters rules; board drops its Idaho exam and related fees

The Senate Commerce and Human Resources Committee approved docket 24‑2901‑2401, a reorganization and cleanup of rules for the Idaho Certified Shorthand Reporters Board.
Cecily Metcalfe, board services program manager for the Occupational Licenses Bureau and executive officer for the Certified Shorthand Reporters Board, told the committee the rewrite deleted the board’s own examination and removed examination and exam‑prep fees because the board no longer offers an Idaho‑based exam due to low utilization and high cost. Metcalfe also said the rule governing temporary permits was removed where it duplicated Idaho Code 50‑431‑9.
Senator Guthrie moved and the committee approved the docket by voice vote; no substantive opposition was recorded.
