Rob Perez joined the Idaho Senate State Affairs Committee virtually to discuss his gubernatorial reappointment to the state’s Treasurer’s Investment Advisory Board and described his financial and banking background.
Perez told the committee he spent four decades in finance and banking and later founded a state-chartered bank in 2008. “I spent 40 years in the finance and banking side of it and then moonlighted in as an investor primarily on investment real estate,” Perez said, describing his experience as a bank founder, CEO and investor.
Committee members asked why he sought reappointment and praised his willingness to serve. Senator Kelly Anthon and other members thanked Perez for his public service; Anthon said Perez’s background and continued willingness to serve were appreciated by the committee.
Perez also commended staff in the treasurer’s office. He singled out Sean Neidegar and the treasurer’s team for being “thorough,” “technical” and “humble,” and said working with that staff had been "enlightening."
The committee did not vote on the reappointment during the meeting. Chairman Guthrie said the committee would take a formal vote on Perez’s appointment at its next meeting.
No materials or motions were filed during the appearance; Perez’s appearance served as a public introduction and question-and-answer prior to the committee’s consideration and scheduled vote.
