Patricia “Patty” Perkins, director of the Idaho Department of Finance and a nominee for reappointment to the Treasurer’s Investment Advisory Board, told the Senate State Affairs Committee she has served five years as a board member and that the board’s role is to ensure state-held funds are invested in a safe and sound manner.
“Good morning, and thank you very much, senator, chairman and members of the committee. I’m very happy to to see you all. My name is Patty Perkins, and I have been the Department of Finance director for the past 5 years,” Perkins said. She described roughly 30 years of commercial banking experience and past roles in lending, credit and human resources, in addition to prior small-business ownership and work with the city of Meridian.
Perkins said the Treasurer’s office and its staff make individual investment decisions in consultation with outside firms; the advisory board’s role is oversight. “Our job is to ensure that it is done in a safe and sound manner,” she said. Senators had no further questions; the chair said the committee would vote on Perkins’ reappointment at the next meeting. No confirmation vote was taken at the hearing.
