Senator, representative and lobbyists brief Cutler Bay on legislative results, funding priorities and environmental concerns

Senator Kalatayut said the session’s policy weeks have concluded and that lawmakers were preparing to return for budget conferencing in coming weeks. She and Representative Blanco said they and the town’s lobbying team continued to seek funding for Cutler Bay priorities including an active‑adult program ($100,000 requested), water‑quality projects (Section 7 Subbasin and 200 Seventh Street/Seventh Avenue improvements), a $3.5 million emergency operations command center, Bel Air Park community room, and an economic‑development plan to support local growth. The lobbying team reported six of seven town funding requests remained in play in at least one chamber as of the May 21 briefing.
