He also provided athletic scheduling information: he said high school soccer practices and games begin in early August and that the first football home game is scheduled for Aug. 22 against Macquarie County with a planned 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The director said United Cumberland Bank is sponsoring that “border ball” game and the district will promote the event.
Separately, the director reported a planned installation of a district digital-media board is on hold because state budget approval has not been completed. He said district staff have completed paperwork with the vendor and are awaiting the state budget action and subsequent county commission approval. He stated that once the county commission approves the necessary amendment, a staff member named Owens will coordinate the installation date with the vendor.
Board members did not take formal action on the principal search or on staffing assignments during the meeting; the director described interviews in progress and a target to have a principal in place “by Monday at the latest” if interviews conclude successfully. The meeting concluded after routine business and roll-call votes on consent items.
