Frazier said she did not see permanent signage warning of the raised crosswalk and that temporary construction signage had fallen over. Tom Weingren, street services manager with the Department of Public Works, confirmed contractors (LaLonde Contractors Inc.) were on site and that temporary orange barrels and signage had been used pending installation of permanent signs; he said the reported temporary sign near the crosswalk had been found fallen over, likely due to wind.
Frazier said her insurer covered part of the repair and that she paid out-of-pocket costs, including a rental; committee members discussed whether the city should front the deductible and noted the city could pursue reimbursement from the contractor under contract terms that typically include hold-harmless provisions. The committee approved a $500 payment to cover Frazier’s deductible and referred the recommendation to the full Common Council for final action on June 24, 2025.
