School board pulls MnDOT London Road item from consent, later approves temporary easement

Member Lofeld moved to remove the MnDOT London Road property sale item from the consent agenda and place it on the regular agenda; Member Mike Cassell seconded the motion and the board approved the amendment to the agenda. The item therefore received fuller board discussion rather than being bundled into consent.
Later in the meeting, Member Lofeld moved a formal resolution (b‑5‑25‑4101) authorizing the district to allow MnDOT to acquire a temporary easement described on the MnDOT right‑of‑way plot for payment of $6,200. The resolution states the easement would cease on Dec. 1, 2030, or earlier if MnDOT determines it is no longer needed for highway purposes. Executive Director Teresa Severance had circulated written responses to board questions before the vote.
During discussion Member Loeffler Kemp thanked staff for responding to questions in advance and asked that the district keep students and families informed about any work that could affect East High School, where the property is located. Superintendent Magus and staff said they would provide updates and coordinate timing and community notifications.
The amendment to the agenda and the easement resolution both passed; the board did not specify vote tallies in the public transcript beyond the vocal votes recorded as "aye" or "nay."
