Sherlock Tree Company was the sole bidder; staff said the firm conducted phase 1 and used environmentally friendly removal methods. Staff also recommended a construction‑phase task order to Hazen & Sawyer and EW environmental consultants for $31,340. That task order includes pre‑construction nesting surveys and site reviews during construction to minimize impacts to protected species, staff said.
Council asked whether grant money was available; staff said no grant was awarded for this phase but the village will pursue future grant opportunities. Staff indicated ongoing vegetation removal will likely be periodic (decadal intervals) and major dredging is not currently in the five‑year plan.
Staff recommended approval of both the Sherlock Tree Company construction contract and the Hazen & Sawyer construction‑phase services task order.
