Rebecca Ivarra, director of destination services, introduced the city’s Visit San Marcos and partner teams and announced the bureau had won a silver Telly award for a litter-reduction campaign. Ivarra said Visit San Marcos and partner initiatives promote shopping, arts, culture, heritage, recreation and conferences and cited 2024 figures presented in the proclamation text, including $214.7 million in direct spending by travelers and an estimated 2,700 jobs supported in San Marcos.
The council presented the Rogers Family Tourism Award to Kristen Mostyn Williams of Wonder World Cave & Adventure Park, recognizing long-term contributions to San Marcos tourism and community partnerships. Williams thanked Visit San Marcos staff and her family and recalled Wonder World’s long local history.
The council also presented the Rogers Family Tourism Lifetime Achievement Award to Seth and Chase Katz for their restaurants and contributions to local hospitality and live music venues. Seth and Chase accepted the award and dedicated it to their teams.
