Huffines said an accessible surface — asphalt or concrete — near the North parking lot and pond would help senior citizens, families with small children and people with mobility devices. He suggested adding a small plaza by the pond for seating.
"If one of our main focuses could be to go ahead and get an asphalt, or concrete, whatever, made for people that I just described, senior citizens and families as well, families with young children, that would be awesome," Huffines said during the public hearing.
The public hearing was a forum to receive written and oral comments on the proposed budget and capital plan; no vote or formal council action on this suggestion was recorded during the hearing. Councilors indicated no immediate decision and moved on to other agenda items.
Huffines said the project might already be planned and could come within six months to a year. No city staff presentation or capital allocation response to Huffines’ request was recorded on the transcript.
