North Las Vegas approves amendment to allow 122-room Hilton at Aliante despite neighbors' objections

The North Las Vegas City Council on May 21 approved an amendment to the Aliante master plan development agreement to allow a 122-room, nongaming Hilton hotel on a vacant office pad along Nature Park Drive in the Aliante master plan community.

The amendment, filed as DA 042024 and tied to Ordinance No. 3210, changes the list of principally permitted uses for Parcel 42 so a four‑story, 122‑room hotel may be built instead of the third office building originally envisioned for the site. The council approved the amendment by voice vote after roughly an hour of public comment and council questions.

Council members and residents framed the issue as an infill-development choice with neighborhood impacts. The Aliante Master Association and several nearby residents opposed the change, citing traffic on Nature Park Drive, limited event parking, privacy and public‑safety concerns. Michael Breaux, president of the Aliante Master Association, told the council the development agreement "does not permit a variance regarding use of property" and urged a rejection, saying the pad "could never have been a C‑2 district" and that a hotel would be "detrimental to general welfare."
