A WRWC staff member gave commissioners a legislative update on May 20, saying the 2025 Nevada legislative session was approaching a key deadline and that the commission's legislative subcommittee had directed staff to take a position on one bill: SB276.
“...the second house passage is kind of like the last substantive deadline before second house passage. That's scheduled for tomorrow,” the staff member, identified in the meeting as Lucas, said during his report on bills the commission has been monitoring. Lucas said SB276 is a reporting bill concerning how certain discharges are reported down the chain and that it had come out of committee and was on second reading.
Lucas told commissioners the last day of the regular session is June 2 and that staff are continuing to monitor water-related legislation. He said WRWC's legislative subcommittee limited the commission's formal position this session to SB276.
Commissioners had no questions during the update and the commission moved on to program updates.
