Kim Rigdon, WRWC program manager, updated the commission May 20 on several outreach and program activities, including a new subscription feature on the commission website, the full execution of a RAFTELUS wastewater regionalization professional services agreement and outreach meetings with regional partners.
“...we automatically included all the board members into the subscription. So you don't need to do anything,” Rigdon said, describing the Mailchimp-based subscription service that will notify board members and the public about workshops, meetings and education events.
Rigdon said the RAFTELUS wastewater regionalization professional services agreement has been fully executed and a kickoff meeting is scheduled for June 5. She said staff met with Laura Elmore, senior development officer at the Discovery Museum (Children's Museum), to discuss possible curriculum partnerships for water-related, science-based education. Rigdon also said she met with the executive director of the Western Nevada Development District to increase visibility of WRWC projects and coordinate moving forward with regional partners.
Rigdon told commissioners the Nevada Water Innovation Institute presentation planned for the meeting was postponed to July because the institute's three-year proposal scope of work was not yet ready. She said the institute will assist with mapping tools and website content for the regional water management plan update.
Commissioners offered praise for the outreach work and directed staff to continue coordinating with regional partners and to confirm email subscription receipt for board members.
