The Washington County Board of Commissioners on June 3 adopted a resolution proclaiming June 1 through Aug. 16, 2025 as the county’s “Summer at Your Library” season. Jackie Kramer, director of the Washington County Library, presented the annual proclamation and outlined programming aimed at readers and learners of all ages.
Kramer described libraries as neighborhood anchors that provide free access to books, technology and community programs. She thanked county staff, the library board and partner departments for their support and said the summer programming includes events intended to combat summer learning loss and provide community gathering spaces.
Commissioner Bigham moved to adopt the resolution and Commissioner Claussen seconded. Commissioners noted high community participation in library programs and praised library staff. The board approved the proclamation by roll call, 5-0.
The library’s proclamation lists program dates and emphasizes partnerships with schools and community organizations; no new county funds or ordinance changes were announced during the presentation.
