Kosciusko County commissioners accepted the unanimous recommendations from the area plan commission on four rezoning petitions during Monday's meeting.
The cases and actions recorded in the meeting packet:
- Rezoning 2025-13, Joseph and Rosalyn Sloan: Agricultural to commercial, just outside Etna Green east of Winona Powder Coating. The plan commission unanimously recommended commercial; the board accepted the recommendation.
- Rezoning 2025-10, Brandon and Emily Cresca: Residential to agricultural near the corner of 500 South and State Road 19; plan commission unanimously recommended approval to match current land use and lifestyle; commissioners approved the recommendation.
- Rezoning 2025-11, David Keever: Commercial to residential near Cherokee Road and Seth Ward Road (Lake Wawasee). The change was sought after the building previously used as an architecture studio is no longer serving a commercial use; plan commission recommended rezoning to residential and commissioners approved.
- Rezoning 2025-11 (SRKM): Agricultural to residential near Old 30/New 30; the petitioner (SRKM) said the site will be annexed into the nearby city and is targeting grant eligibility; the developer said the project is roughly a $7,000,000 investment for about 40 housing units. The plan commission recommended rezoning and the commissioners approved the recommendation. The packet included a letter from the local mayor in support.
Public comment: A developer representative spoke in favor of the SRKM petition and said the project aims to bring housing to the county. There were no speakers recorded in opposition for these cases.
Next steps: Rezoning approvals will be recorded and, where applicable, coordination with city annexation processes and grant applications will proceed.
