Maury County commissioners voted July 6 to appoint Wayne Ramsburg to the Maury County Civil Service Board following the resignation of Terry Potts.
The appointment was made during the committee meeting after a nomination and a brief recommendation from a commissioner who cited Ramsburg’s past service as a county firefighter and prior service on the commission. “He comes highly touted,” the nominating commissioner said, noting Ramsburg’s leadership in local service organizations.
Commissioner Saunders asked whether the county’s civil service board remains in effect after changes at the state level. County staff answered that the state eliminated the statewide civil service structure set up by state law, but Maury County’s board exists under a private act and remains in effect.
The motion to appoint Ramsburg passed on a voice vote; the committee chair said the appointment will go to the full commission for finalization as required by county procedure.
No compensation, term length or effective start date for the appointment was specified at the committee meeting.
