Council approves $11.5 million Jetport appropriation for terminal and operations center work

The Portland City Council approved an $11.5 million appropriation from Jetport unrestricted funds on June 2 to support work at the Portland International Jetport that city staff described as terminal roof repair or replacement, relocation of Jetport administrative offices, relocation of the operations center and development of a new emergency operations center.
City manager staff identified Paul Bradbury, the Jetport director, as present to answer questions. During public comment, George Roe urged the council to ensure that work at the Jetport be considered in the broader context of a Jetport master plan and of neighborhood concerns about noise and growth. Roe asked when the full council had last been briefed on the master plan and asked that committee review take place.
Staff said the appropriation uses Jetport unrestricted funds; the motion was moved by Councilor Phillips and seconded by Councilor Fournier and passed unanimously. Councilors did not amend the order but acknowledged ongoing neighborhood conversations about Jetport impacts.
Staff will proceed with project scheduling and procurement under Jetport authorities and report timelines and project milestones to the council as projects advance.
