A councilor noted that questions about an appointee’s policy positions were reasonable but that lengthy policy interviews are traditionally handled after confirmation; Dowdy responded during the meeting that he supports data-privacy agreements to ensure the city “control[s] the data, for the citizens as well as their employees” and that he worked to keep data ownership in-house at his prior roles.
