Roseville Recreation Authority outlines summer events and programs, rec center construction on schedule

Tony Lipinski, director of the Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe, presented the authority—s summer calendar and program offerings to the Roseville City Council on June 10, highlighting events, adaptive programming and facility construction status.
Lipinski opened by pointing to Rose Fest at Veterans Memorial Park (Saturday at 3 p.m., with activities and fireworks) as the season—s kickoff. Planned special events include a pride-themed Pride in the Park vendor and music event on July 10 at Veterans Memorial Park, a movie-in-the-park (Wicked) at Spindler Park on July 15, and Rockin— Summer Nights on Aug. 7 (vendors and free activities).
Recreation Authority programming details Lipinski presented included adaptive classes (yoga starting July 8, craft club Wednesdays starting June 18, "dance without limits" beginning June 28, and a Hawaiian dance party on July 24). Youth and teen offerings include origami and caricature workshops, a summer break camp June 30–July 3 (9 a.m.–3 p.m.), tennis lessons starting June 23, intro-to-cheer on June 26, tumbling on June 24, and a hoop class running through Aug. 15. Adult programs include a voice-over workshop on July 7, Zumba drop-in classes, Kanga Drums and other fitness and arts offerings. Senior programming includes day trips to the Port Huron area and a two-day trip in September. Lipinski said construction work at the Recreation Authority Center is progressing and "is anticipated to be done in October." Council members praised the variety and attendance at recent events.
Council questions and context During council Q&A, members asked about construction timing and usage; Lipinski said the project remains on schedule for October completion and that the facility continues to be used even while work proceeds. Council members thanked Lipinski and staff for the breadth of programming and noted high community participation in recent events.
How it matters The schedule reflects regular municipal recreation programming aimed at children, adults, seniors and residents with disabilities. Construction completion in October will affect full program capacity and facility availability for winter programming.
